Questacon Smart Moves is an outreach programme designed to enthuse and motivate young Australians to continue their studies and consider a range of careers in science and technology, and to engender a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Exactly how do we do this? Read on...

image Smart Moves travels to regional secondary schools throughout Australia presenting a free, up-to-the-minute snapshot of what’s happening in cutting edge science, technology and business. It’s an interactive, humourous and high energy look at amazing Australian inventions, futuristic sciences and ethically charged issues like human cloning all designed to capture students’ imaginations. We follow up on the shows in our teachers' resource part of this website. We also provide free community shows for professional and community groups to generate a pool of enthusiastic mentors to support participating students. Book us in.
image The Smart Moves website is being continually expanded to provide a hub of support for each element of the programme.
image We have a monthly newsletter full of information about our latest tour, what’s new, our site of the month and the odd bit of trivia that will change the way you see things. You can sign up on-line at http://smartmoves.questacon.edu.au/Email-list/subscribe.asp

The Smart Moves Teachers’ Resource assists participating teachers to maintain momentum once the presentation is finished. It complements the travelling show and addresses National Profiles and Key Learning Areas.

image Smart Moves is a catalyst for students to become involved in programmes, competitions and events that can turn their good ideas into astounding projects. As we travel to each region, we attempt to pick up on the local events and programmes that are trying to develop young people's entrepreneurship and attitude to science and technology as a career.
image Smart Moves' 'Invention Convention' conferences provide the forum for innovative and entrepreneurial students to showcase their projects and gain invaluable access to role models in science and technology. This phase is still being developed but we expect a residential conference with a smaller number of selected students. These students will have demonstrated their ability to research, be creative, innovative and/or enterprising. At the conference they will be given a forum to present their project and meet with other enthusiastic young Australians and key leaders. They will be able to visualise and realise their opportunities for the future.
